The Impact Animal Testing has had on Science
Medicine today wouldn't even exist without animal testing. First off they would never have been able to find treatments for humans or even animals, animal testing has helped cure cancer such as lung cancer, breast cancer and a few different types of leukemia such as chronic myeloid leukemia and childhood leukemia and many more. Second of all, animal testing has been helpful for curing other things for humans such as H.I.V. aids, heart diseases, diabetes and parkinson's disease. As for animals when a certain one is tested on it can actually help animals themselves by helping humans find treatments for them such as rabies distemper and tetanus. Animal testing isn't the only type of research that humans do on animals there's also pure research, applied research and toxicology research. Animal testing helps also with doing certain types of surgeries and to make certain vaccines.
Cancer Research
- for breast cancer animal testing helped the treatment that led to the development of tamoxifen which is a very successful treatment
- animal testing has helped double the survival rate for cancer patients everywhere
- animal testing helps scientists find the faulty genes and molecules that cause cancer
H.I.V. Aids, Heart Disease and Diabetes
- Animal testing for H.I.V. and aids doesn't work well as animals won't contract the disease as humans have a killer T cell which don't exist in most animals when they do H.I.V. testing on animals it stays in one remote spot but, in humans it spreads causing more chance of death as it goes everywhere but in animals it doesn't
Surgery and Vaccines
- we wouldn't have the surgical techniques we have today like hip replacements and complicated heart surgeries
- we also wouldn't have the amount of drugs we have today for animals themselves
- we wouldn't have such things as pain killers, sedatives, anesthetics and many more
- think of any disease that can sometimes be cured
